Suitable for staff at any level in any work sector, needing a grounding in the essentials of health and safety. Everyone at work should have an understanding of why they must work safely – and this course offers exactly that. The course covers two key areas – health and safety and is modular in format. A nationally recognised certificate (IOSH) will be awarded to successful candidates.

  • Introducing working safely – this module stresses the realities of the human suffering behind the statistics and emphasizes the important of personal responsibility.
  • Defining hazard and risk – This module puts hazard and risk into everyday language, and uses familiar examples to show what can happen and demystifies risk assessment.
  • Identifying common hazards – All main issues are covered in this module – entrances and exits, work traffic, fire, chemicals, electricity, physical and verbal abuse, bullying, stress, noise and working environment, slips, trips and falls and manual handling.
  • Improving safely performance – this module deals with systems and processes, including contract work, inspections, safe systems and permits, protective equipment, signage, emergency procedures, reporting and health checks.

IOSH Working Safely has been recognised as an equivalent to a Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment. This means that delegates who have successfully completed Working Safely within the last three years can apply for a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) green Labourer card once they have also passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Operative test.
