How to Complete an Investigation

Date/Time

Date(s) - 10/03/2020

Description

Before we can invite an employee to a disciplinary hearing it is good practice to investigate fully to understand exactly what has happened.

When embarking on an investigation it should be clear in your mind that you are not looking to proportion blame but to understand what has happened and the circumstances surrounding this. Some areas to consider may include questions such as:

Why investigate?

Who should be completing the Investigation?

What is the role of the Investigator?

Should you speak to the employee as part of the Investigation?

Should you request statements from witnesses? Or hold a meeting?

What questions should you ask?

When should you ask open or closed questions?

What evidence do you need to collate?

Suspend or not to suspend?

Is there a case to be answered?

If you book this course and the bite size how to conduct a disciplinary course, which are being ran on the same day, you can receive both courses for £50.00
